Build Plans Holder

I have been wondering what the best way to store my full size plans is going to be. I considered some sort of drafting table design where I could lay them out under a light. Drafting tables are expensive and take up a lot of room. Then I got the idea from Brad Oliver over at RV7Factory.com to build a plans holder that stores them out of the way.

I made my way to the scrap wood section at Home Depot and purchased a half sheet of 5/16 back board. I cut it to the size of the plans, about 2"x3". I also bought a section of aluminum "U" shaped channel tubing and mounting it to the back of the board. This serves as a stiffener and hanger.

I then attached a 3' piece of scrap trim board to the wall near my workbench. Some cheap hooks are screwed in to this board.

I can attach the plans to the board using standard office clips. Now I have a portable board that I can take down and lay on my workbench to study and hang on the wall out of the way when I don't need it. So far it has worked out great.
